App Store screenshot sizes

Every pixel dimension Apple and Google currently accept, how many images each store wants, and the rules that get an upload rejected. The generator below exports all of them — but if you only came for the numbers, they are in the first table down the page.

Your screenshots are never sent to the image model. The background is generated on its own and your real screen is placed on top.

Device and look

“Show the whole screen” never crops your screenshot. Switch to “Fill the frame” only if you are happy to lose a few pixels at the edges.

Your screenshots stay on your device. The set is drawn and zipped in this tab; only the headline text goes to our server, and only when you ask the AI to write or translate it.

The sizes, in full

These are the sizes this tool exports, and they are read from the same list the exporter uses — so what is in this table is exactly what comes out of the zip.

Apple App Store

iPhone 6.9" display 1290 × 2796 App Store/iPhone 6.9-inch iPhone 16 Pro Max, 16 Plus, 15 Pro Max, 15 Plus. Apple accepts this set for every modern iPhone, so it is the one size you cannot skip.
iPhone 6.5" display 1242 × 2688 App Store/iPhone 6.5-inch iPhone 11 Pro Max, XS Max. Still accepted and useful if you support older devices.
iPhone 5.5" display 1242 × 2208 App Store/iPhone 5.5-inch iPhone 8 Plus and earlier Plus models — the classic 16:9 home-button shape.
iPad 13" display 2064 × 2752 App Store/iPad 13-inch iPad Pro 13-inch (M4). Required if your app is available on iPad.

Google Play

Play phone 1080 × 1920 Google Play/Phone Google Play needs at least two phone screenshots. 16:9 portrait at 1080 × 1920 is inside Play’s 320–3840 px range on every side.
Play 7-inch tablet 1200 × 1920 Google Play/Tablet 7-inch Needed for your listing to be promoted on smaller Android tablets.
Play 10-inch tablet 1600 × 2560 Google Play/Tablet 10-inch Large Android tablets and Chromebooks.
Play feature graphic 1024 × 500 Google Play/Feature Graphic One landscape banner, shown at the top of your Play listing. Mandatory for every app. Keep text well inside the middle — the edges get cropped on some surfaces.

Build my set

How many images each store wants

Apple requires at least one screenshot per display size you support, and allows up to ten. Only the first three appear in search results, so those three carry almost all of the weight — a strong first screen is worth more than a complete set of ten. Since the 2024 requirement change, one 6.9-inch iPhone set covers the entire iPhone range; Apple scales it down for smaller displays rather than asking for a separate upload. iPad is the exception: if your app ships on iPad, it needs its own set and the version cannot be submitted without one.

Google Play requires at least two phone screenshots to publish and at least four for your app to be eligible for promotional placement anywhere on Play. Up to eight are allowed per device type. The 1024 × 500 feature graphic is separately mandatory for every listing. Tablet screenshots are optional, but without them Play flags your app as not designed for larger screens, which affects both ranking and whether it is shown to tablet and Chromebook users.

Formats, and the rules that cause rejections

Both stores take PNG or JPEG. Apple wants RGB, no transparency and no alpha channel; Google Play takes 24-bit PNG or JPEG and the feature graphic must have no transparency at all. This tool exports PNG throughout, which both accept.

Three things reject uploads more often than anything else:

  • Dimensions that are off by a pixel. App Store Connect does not resize to fit — a 1289-wide file is simply refused. Every image here is drawn directly at its target size rather than scaled afterwards, so the numbers are exact by construction.
  • Content that misleads. Invented star ratings, award badges you did not win, “#1 app” claims, prices that are not real, or features your description does not support. Both stores reject these on review.
  • Mentions of other platforms. An App Store screenshot that says “also on Android”, or a Play listing pointing at iOS, is a reliable rejection.

Two softer rules worth knowing: Apple does not want screenshots that are purely a title card with no app interface in them, and Play crops the feature graphic on some surfaces, so keep text away from its edges.

Which sizes to actually export

For most apps the shortest workable list is: the 6.9-inch iPhone set, the 13-inch iPad set if you ship on iPad, the Play phone set, and the Play feature graphic. That is four folders and it satisfies both stores completely. The older iPhone 6.5-inch and 5.5-inch sizes are still accepted but no longer needed, and Play tablet sets are worth adding only once your app genuinely works well on a tablet.

Tick those four in the generator above and one export produces all of them, each in its own folder at its exact pixel size, with a README listing what went where.

Screenshot size questions

1290 × 2796 pixels, the 6.9-inch iPhone display. Apple accepts that one set for the whole current iPhone range, so it is the only iPhone size you strictly need.

No. Both are still accepted, but since Apple's 2024 change the 6.9-inch set covers every iPhone. Add the older sizes only if you want tighter control over how the listing looks on those devices.

Exactly 1024 × 500 pixels, landscape, PNG or JPEG with no transparency. It is mandatory for every Play listing and is used wherever Play promotes your app.

Yes, if your app is a landscape app — the dimensions simply swap. Portrait is what the overwhelming majority of listings use, and it is what this tool exports.

It should. Apple expects screenshots to represent the actual in-app experience and rejects sets that are purely marketing title cards with no interface in them. That is also why this tool never regenerates your screenshot — the real screen is always what is shown.

PNG is the safe answer for both stores and is what this tool exports. Apple needs RGB with no alpha channel; Play accepts 24-bit PNG or JPEG, with no transparency on the feature graphic.
